Absolute Ice Bar

They say that you should experience everything once, and while I sometimes think this is not the best plan I have to say I found myself intrigued by the concept of an ice bar in London. If it had been in my home town way up North I would have accepted it as it is so much colder up there but in the centre of London, surely that is just a disaster waiting to happen?

Well I was proved wrong! It was AMAZING!!!!

I am not necessarily a vodka kinda gal but as they say you have to try everything once, or maybe a lot as I was once a student! I had seen pictures and heard rumours about how great the place was but had never had the opportunity to go myself and thought after a hard day at the LIWF why not go the whole hog and do vodka as well as wine and champagne and spirit, in for a penny in for a pound as we say at home.

I was given a very cozy cape and glove combo to keep the cold out and look uber funky at the same time and was shown through the door into the ice bar. Once you accepted that you were in fact in a room full of ice - even the table and chairs are made of ice - drinking a cocktail out of an ice glass, you were able to fully take in the surroundings. The craftmanship was second to none and to think that all this was in London, it does make one want to visit the Ice Hotel in Iceland.

The cocktails available are quite varied and are Absolute based but you can go virgin and have a fruit juice cocktail. But no matter whether your warming up from the inside with the vodka or keeping cool with the fruit juice all the drinks were served up by staff in big Russian style hats - I was rather envious of those and was rather upset that you didn’t get one as you left!

Spending only 40 minutes in the cold was enough as my finger tips were frozen, but it was an amazing 40 minutes. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a different date location or even just a night out with a difference. There are plenty of places to eat around too so you couldn’t really ask for much more from a night in London town!
