Champagne Lover

I am a champagne lover and I am not afraid to say it. I think it should be enjoyed by everyone and those who mascarade as champagne when they are poor sparkling wines should be shot! However great sparkling wines should not be overlooked!

As my previous blog posts show my love for Bollinger is well known however I have a new lover who will be just a frequent affair, Perrier-Jouët . I was able to try not only the Grand Brut NV but the Blason Rose NV too and it was a lovely experience that I will be repeating, but I am not giving up my main love Bollinger yet.

The Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut NV is as Majestic says, “soft-apple fruit and an easy-drinking, well balanced style that make it extremely popular.” It is a scrummy alternative to many of the other brands which are more hard hitting or in your face with their characters. This would be paired beautifully with oysters or a simple fish terrine, however it is also perfect as a toasting champagne for special events.

The Perrier-Jouët Blason Rose NV (£45 for one bottle, £34.49 multibuy offer* at Majestic Wine, ask at your local store) is a delight for anyone and should be approached by those who like a robust rose champagne. This is a champagne where jammy notes can be detected but do not overpower your nose. The strawberry and raspberry tones can be easily picked up. A true delight and worth a try with either a berry sauce which echo’s the flavours or even better by itself in bed with a loved one watching Top Gear on the TV!
