Shoes Stand to Attention!

I was asked by my best friend to be her bridesmaid a few months ago and was allowed to select my own dress, shoes and the like. Now you would think that this would be perfect as you are guaranteed to not look like a peach meringue , but it really isn’t!! The dress was one thing, it can’t be too long, can’t be too short, what colour is suitable? Luckily I had just bought a beautiful dress from Coast so that was one part of the puzzle complete. So off on I went on a shoe hunt, and what a hunt it turned out to be!

Firstly there are so many decisions which have to be made:

  • the height of the heel
  • the colour match to the dress and to the other bridesmaid dresses
  • comfort as you are going to be in them all day long and stood up in them for quite a long time
  • are you going to be too tall or too short compared to the rest of the bridal group - very important when your pretty tall!

I started scouring the shops and just couldn’t find anything that was just right, yes that sounds like I am the Goldilocks of shoes but I didn’t want to be in agony in ugly shoes the whole day as I am pretty sure a change into Birkenstocks is never really a good look at the reception!

After weeks of searching and thinking that I would have to settle for a pair I already owned I was saved by a trip to Dorothy Perkins.  They sat on the shelf looking out at me, begging to be tried on! Not only are they actually comfortable they are pretty and have a perfect heel height, no giant status for me this time! The only worry was would they go with the dress as already planned. I don’t think I have ever been so scared opening a suit carrier as I did when bringing the dress out to compare, and never have I been so relieved when they went together like a match made in heaven!!!

So now the only issue is the handbag!

So if your in a quandry like myself get to Dorothy Perkins and pick yourself up a bargain in their mid season sale, now on at
